Interfaith Neighbors is pleased to announce the establishment of a COVID-19 Emergency Financial Assistance Fund. Funded by the generosity of several local foundations including the Jules L. Plangere, Jr. Family Foundation, the Stone Foundation of New Jersey and the Jay & Linda Grunin Foundation, as well as many individual donors; the fund is providing financial assistance to individuals and families that have experienced financial distress as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID-19 health crisis has resulted in many families in Monmouth County facing economic crisis. Much of the Monmouth County economy is hospitality/service based, which was one of the first industries to be effected in the response to the crisis. Many individuals and families have either lost their employment entirely or are facing greatly reduced hours.
COVID-19 Emergency Financial Assistance is providing maximum awards of $1,000 to families to support housing costs, utilities, repairs, food and medicines.
Interfaith Neighbors’ Rental & Mortgage Assistance program was the organization’s founding program and has been in operation for 30+ years.In a normal year, the program assists approximately 350 families with between $500,000 and $750,000 in direct assistance.
