Meals on Wheels is Designed Specifically to Meet the Nutritional & Social Needs of Seniors

One in five Americans is 60 years old or older.

The average life expectancy today across the nation is 79 years old.

22% of New Jersey residents are seniors.

17% of all seniors in New Jersey are food insecure.

8% of New Jersey seniors live in poverty.

26% of New Jersey seniors have a disability.

Frequent In Home Visits Provide Opportunities to Meet Nutritional Needs, Combat Social Isolation, Address Safety Hazards & Provide Holistic Care

1 in 4 seniors lives alone.

1 in 5 feels lonely.

8 out of 10 recipients say they see friends more often because of congregate meal programs.

9 out of 10 seniors say Meals on Wheels helps them live independently.

And, While Hunger and Isolation Can Affect Anyone with Limited Mobility and Declining Health, Financial Strain Makes Them Much Worse

Over 1,100 meals are delivered every day by Meals on Wheels of Monmouth County provided by Interfaith Neighbors by hundreds of volunteers and staff to seniors at home and six
congregate sites.

Meals on Wheels can provide a senior citizen meals for one year for roughly the same cost as spending one day in the hospital or 10 days in a nursing home.

Gifts of any Size are Gratefully Accepted. Gifts at the $250, $500 or $1000 levels will receive a plaque to proudly display your support of Monmouth County Seniors!
